PDF to Word conversion in your browser
The converter reads the PDF text layer with PDF.js and creates a standard DOCX package locally. When OCR fallback is enabled, pages with no usable text are rendered locally and recognized with the selected self-hosted Tesseract.js language runtime.
Because PDF is a fixed-layout format, there is no universal one-to-one mapping back to Word. The converter prioritizes editable text and page boundaries rather than promising perfect visual reconstruction. OCR output is a reconstruction and should be reviewed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert scanned PDFs?
Yes. Enable OCR scanned pages, choose English, German, French or Spanish, and pages without selectable text will be rendered and recognized locally before being included in the DOCX.
Does OCR run on every page?
No. Direct text extraction is attempted first. OCR is used only for pages that produce no usable text when the OCR option is enabled.
Will the Word file look exactly like the PDF?
No. The output focuses on editable text and page order. Complex positioning, images, forms, tables and OCR layout can change.
Does the conversion upload my PDF?
No. PDF.js, the DOCX builder and the self-hosted OCR runtime process the selected document in the browser.
